Learn how salaried employees in Pakistan can use the IT-3 Form to claim tax credits on mobile bills, vehicle tax, and more to increase monthly take-home pay.
For many salaried individuals, the primary financial
challenge is having their entire tax amount withheld from their paychecks,
often leading to a long and difficult process to obtain refunds later. The IT-3
Form, or the "Declaration by Salaried Persons," offers a vital
solution by allowing employees to adjust their tax withholding in real-time,
effectively increasing their monthly take-home pay. What Can You Claim? The
form allows you to claim "advance taxes" already paid on various
services. Eligible categories include:
How the Process Works To utilize this relief: you must first gather valid evidence, such as receipts or paid bills, for the taxes you wish to claim. You then complete the IT-3 form by providing your NTN, CNIC, and Employee Number. Crucially, the assets (like vehicles or phone lines) must be in your name or installed at your residence.
You must also declare your total income status; for instance, if your income is Rs. 500,000 or more, you must acknowledge your liability to file a Wealth Statement. Once completed, submit the form and evidence to your HR or Finance department. Your employer will verify the documents against the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and adjust your monthly tax withholding accordingly. This proactive approach ensures you receive your tax benefits immediately rather than waiting for the next financial year.
